The EuroDIG Project was created in 2008 by various organisations, government representatives and specialists, with the aim of promoting dialogue and collaboration with the Internet community on public policies for the Internet. CIAC researcher Vítor Tomé represents CIAC/UAlg in this international team.
The aim of EuroDIG is to develop a skills model that citizens have to develop throughout their lives to play an active role in the digital society of the 21st century. This model will then be tested in schools in several European countries, from pre-school to secondary level, before being shared with the governments of the 47 European countries making up the institution.
The work of the team of researchers began in March 2016 and will go on until 2021. For now, the theoretical framework and survey of good practices have been organised. A discussion paper is still being prepared for the September 2017 conference, which will involve dozens of specialists in the field of digital citizenship and associated areas, not only from Europe but also from outside Europe.
