The Research Center for Arts and Communication (CIAC) at the Open University aims to conduct research that leverages digital technologies across both computing and media with aesthetic, technical, educational, cultural, and social relevance. This center adopts a stance at the intersection of art, science, and technology, pursuing research projects that span education, culture, entertainment, and society, examining their implications on everyday life.

The group, consisting of five integrated researchers, engages in both theoretical and practical work, developing models for artistic and social intervention as well as artistic experimentation artifacts. These endeavors are firmly grounded in human and humanistic values. This objective requires a systematic study of social, cultural, artistic, technological, and computational ecosystems, where – and within which – the research is developed and applied, rooted in a deep understanding of the contexts in which diverse computational artifacts are experienced and utilized
