Penha Campus. Faro, Portugal

The Research Center in Arts and Communication organizes, on November 6 and 7, 2025, the 19th edition of the CIAC Conference Days, dedicated to the theme Interdisciplinary Research. This meeting retains its central purpose of bringing together CIAC researchers and collaborators, both junior and senior, in a space for sharing, reflection, and discussion of projects, publications, methodologies, concepts, and research paths.

The 2025 edition stands out for its focus on interdisciplinarity, encouraging dialogue between different fields of knowledge and promoting new perspectives in academic research in the contemporary context. Over the course of two days, participants will have the opportunity to present projects, debate methodological issues, explore concepts, and foster collaborations among centers and working groups.

The event brings together all the CIAC poles and working groups: Visual Arts and Creative Processes, Film Studies, Digital Media Art, Communication Sciences, Digital Literacy and Social Inclusion, Literature and Tourism, and Communication of/in Science and Cultures.

The 19th CIAC Conference Days represent a moment of meeting and academic exchange, reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary research —a profile it has maintained since its inception— and the collaboration among researchers of different generations and areas of expertise.

The 19th CIAC Conference Days also mark the 30th anniversary of the Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences at the University of Algarve, a program that has been intrinsically connected to the center since its inception through its faculty, researchers, and students.
