CIAC co-organises international colloquium on linguistics, literature and communication in Al Hoceima

CIAC – Research Centre for Arts and Communication – is part of the organisation of the 3rd International Colloquium of Al Hoceima, under the theme “Linguistics/Literature/Communication: Some Possibilities for Partnership,” which will take place on April 24 and 25, 2026, at the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques of Al Hoceima, in Morocco.

The initiative results from an international collaboration between Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, the University of Algarve, Texas Tech University, and the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques of Tangier, bringing together researchers from different scientific fields to reflect on the intersections between language, literary creation, and communication, with this edition placing special emphasis on cinema as a featured theme.

Among the highlights of the event is the participation of António Costa Valente, a CIAC researcher, professor at the University of Algarve, and vice-president of the colloquium, who plays a central role in the scientific organisation of the initiative. In addition to his intervention in the opening session, he will present a paper entitled “The Mediterranean Stage of Film Festivals and Urban Imagery,” included in the scientific programme of the first day.

The colloquium programme spans two days, including plenary sessions, parallel presentations, and moments of interdisciplinary debate. On April 24, following the institutional opening session, several presentations will focus on the relationship between literature and cinema, as well as on transformations in communication in the digital age. April 25 will feature plenary lectures and panels dedicated to textual analysis, literary criticism, linguistics, and film studies, including approaches that explore the impact of digital technologies and artificial intelligence on narrative and communication processes.

The colloquium thus aims to foster dialogue between different academic traditions and to promote new research perspectives, highlighting the possibilities of articulation between linguistics, literature, communication, and cinema. By bringing together specialists from various European, American, and African universities, the event establishes itself as a privileged space for scientific exchange and the development of international research networks.

CIAC’s participation in this event reinforces its commitment to the internationalisation of research and to the development of collaborative projects in the fields of arts and communication.
