Creation Processes Conference: Gama Rama Gallery hosts pre-event workshops

The CIAC’s International Creation Processes Conference is organized by the Visual Arts and Creation Processes Working Group of the Research Center for Arts and Communication (CIAC) at the University of Algarve, will be held on October 28 and 29, 2024, under the theme Theories that live in practices. Two pre-conference workshops will be held to preview the discussion on creative processes.

The workshops, which will take place on Saturday, October 26, before the start of the conference, will be held at Gama Rama Gallery.

In the morning, the Points in view workshop will take place at 10am, with curators Kenia Dias and Wagner de Miranda, who investigate movement and the body’s interaction between body and environment. This is a creative workshop based on the study of movement and its poetic developments.

What other ways of being in space can expand the perspectives of the body? How can the same sequence of movement be danced with different versions and qualities of presence?” These are some questions the researchers will be focusing on.

In the afternoon, the Sensory Images workshop will take place at 2pm, with curators Camila Mangueira and Fabrício Fava. The initiative aims to explore senses, memories and games in order to investigate the image, according to the following proposal:

“The increasing multiplication of functions, processes, and multimedia image systems demands, more than ever, a critical understanding that considers the image as a complex environment of interconnected languages, practices, and objects. Based on the Metaimage proposal, which aims to expand the idea of an image beyond visual representation, we will explore senses, memory, and play as ways of experimenting with the image as a multimodal element.”

The researchers propose that, through sensory research exercises and creative group dialogues, concepts and image translation processes be discussed and, in this way, possible narratives and propositions of the sensory image be produced.

Gama Rama Gallery is a partner of the International Creation Processes Conference and will be hosting these workshops at its premises. It is located at Rua do Prior, 13, in Faro.

The workshops are free, but subject to registration (here).
