Raio Verde exhibition by Edgar Massul and Rita Ferreira opens on 20 September in Loulé
The Alfaia Association is hosting the Raio Verde exhibition by artists Edgar Massul and Rita Ferreira. The opening will take place next Friday, 20 September 2024, at 18h00.
On display until November 8, 2024, the exhibition, organised by the Alfaia association, is part of the cultural programme of the city of Loulé and has the support of CIAC — Research Center for Arts and Communication, among other local organisations.
About the artists:
Edgar Massul lives and works between Lisbon and Faro. He studied at Escola António Arroio / atelier livre with Pedro Morais, at S.N.B.A. with João Vieira, at Ar.Co with Graça Costa Cabral, Sergio Taborda, Francisco Rocha, Rui Sanches, Rolney Barreto and Angela Ferreira.
Edgar Massul’s artistic production covers a wide range of disciplines, incorporating painting, drawing, sculpture, objects, photography, video, installations and site-specific projects. His work dialogues with art history and ancestral nature — between the impermanence of organic matter and the permanence of the memory of things.
He collaborated with José Nuno da Câmara Pereira and with the University of the Algarve / CIAC / Visual Arts, where he took part in projects with Pedro Cabral Santo, Mirian Tavares, Tiago Batista and Xana. He collaborated with Pedro Cabrita Reis on various projects. He has held solo exhibitions since 1986.
Rita Ferreira, born in Óbidos in 1991, lives and works in Lisbon. She has a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. She was a finalist for the EDP-MAAT Foundation’s Young Artists Award in 2022; in 2020 she received the Millenium BCP Foundation’s Emerging Artist Award and in 2016 she won the National Culture Centre’s Young Creators Scholarship. He regularly exhibits his work, including the following solo exhibitions: Verónica, Rialto6, Lisbon; Casa de Chá, Brotéria both in 2024; Facsimile, Galeria 3 + 1 Arte Contemporânea in 2023; Mal-me-quer, Galeria 3 + 1 Arte Contemporânea, Lisbon in 2020; Parasita, Travessa da Ermida, Lisbon and Tara, F2 Galeria, Madrid (2019) and Boca Seca Coluna Húmida at Galeria Diferença, Lisbon (2017).
