
Maria Potes Barbas
Maria da Costa Potes Franco Barroso Santa-Clara Barbas is a Coordinating Professor (Educational Communication and Multimedia); Head Researcher at the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém and Visiting Professor at the Open University of Lisbon (30%). She is Pro-President of Projects and Innovation and a full member of CIAC-UAB. She has a PhD in Multimedia Communication and Education from the Universidade Aberta and a Post-Doctorate from the Universidade de Aveiro (UA). She has a specialization in Education and e-learning from UAb. She is Coordinating Professor (Communication and Multimedia Education) at ESE-IPS and Associate Visiting Professor at the Universidade Aberta. She is also Head of Projects and Internationalization, President of the Scientific Council of the Escola Superior de Educação de Santarém (Portugal). She teaches the curricular units of Project, Seminar and Interactive Argument at the Santarém School of Education; she has experience in the development of tools and projects for knowledge management on innovation technologies, capitalization and dissemination strategies, transnational exchange and learning activities, design events, support for policy makers). Her research area is “Educational Technology: communication, digital literacy and social inclusion”. She was recently invited to become an ambassador for “e-Skills for Jobs” in Portugal, an EU initiative based on a partnership that facilitates collaboration between business and education providers, public and private actors, through actions that attract young people and promote employment. Her transnational research deals with the concept of communication, media, digital and virtual environments. She has collaborated with the Centro di Ricerca della Sapienza per la Tutela della Persona del Minore (La Sapienza University, Rome, Italy) and with the Research Group Images, Words and Ideas (GIPI) at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Alcalá, Spain. She has been proactive in recent years in connecting companies through the “Grand Coalition for Jobs” program.
