Considering the importance of cinema in contemporary society, CIAC’s Research Group on Film Studies aims to promote research, theoretical reflection, debate, and the dissemination of knowledge about the 7th Art, enhancing the work developed by CIAC researchers and collaborators.

Organized in three lines of research – “History(s) of Cinema in Portugal”, “Cinemas of the Mediterranean” and “Cinema and Other Arts” – this Research Group aims to contribute to the multiplication and diversification of theoretical perspectives regarding the history of Cinema in Portugal, in the fruitful relations that, from an early age, were established between cinema and the other arts, and also the rich film production in Mediterranean countries, strengthened over decades by coproduction strategies.

The Research Group on Film Studies brings together a dozen researchers and doctoral collaborators from CIAC.
